The church calendar and the Revised Common Lectionary both anchour and organize our services – what we do on a weekly and even monthly basis. The calendar and lectionary tether us to the wider Church; steep us in the birth, life, passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus; and ensure that we engage with large swathes of scripture, even passages that we might otherwise be tempted to overlook or ignore.
